Roll forging is a process where round or flat bar stock is reduced in thickness and increased in length. A few examples of common parts produced using the upset forging process are engine valves, couplings, bolts, screws, and other fasteners. A rolling-element bearing, also known as a rolling bearing, is a bearing which carries a load by placing round elements between two bearing rings. The relative motion of the pieces causes the round elements to roll with very little rolling resistance and with little sliding. 103. Thrust Bearings
A thrust bearing is a particular type of rotary bearing. Like other bearings they permit rotation between parts, but they are designed to support a high axial load while doing this. Swaging is usually a cold working process; however, it is sometimes done as a hot working process.
